John Vachon House — Elgin, IL
Not really the house of John Vachon, but he did photograph it when he stopped in Elgin, Illinois on a 1941 trip for the FSA. This black-and-white photograph documents his image of Elgin with my own take on it. I discovered this house and matched his photograph of the old woman who lived there at the time on her porch swing, reading the mail, in front of the windows on the left. When I first saw this house in 1983 I realized I had seen the windows before and traced it to the John Vachon photograph.
